The West Seneca Town Band

ABOUT THE BAND

Welcome to the West Seneca Town Band!

Hey there, music lovers!

Welcome to the official site of the West Seneca Town Band,

where melodies meet memories and music unites us all.

We're not just any band –

we're a lively ensemble of local musicians on a mission to sprinkle

a little musical magic across our town.

Who We Are

Picture this: a group of talented amateurs and semi-professionals,

all hailing from different corners of the area but brought together by one powerful force –

our love for music!

We're a diverse group, with backgrounds as varied as our repertoire, but when we pick up our instruments, we speak the same language:

the language of harmony and joy.

Our Musical Journey

From classical masterpieces to modern hits, and everything in between, our playlist knows no bounds. Whether we're serenading the streets during parades, adding flair to community events, or simply gathering for a toe-tapping concert, you can bet we're giving it our all. Because for us, music isn't just notes on a page – it's a way of life.

A Rich History

Our band's roots run deep, stretching back to the days of the Civil War and beyond.

Led by the legendary Mr. Clarence Hopper for over half a century, our journey is steeped in tradition and passion.

From the Columbia Race Track's Columbia Concert Band

to the Citizens Band of Gardenville in 1912,

our name may have changed, but our commitment to musical excellence

has always remained the same.

Honoring a Legacy

Let's take a moment to pay homage to the remarkable legacy of Mr. Clarence Hopper

a true titan of the West Seneca Community Band.

For over five decades, Mr. Hopper waved his baton with finesse, following in the footsteps of his father "Hap" Hopper and grandfather,

both esteemed band leaders for decades before Clarence.

A master of the baritone horn alongside his father, Clarence Jr. brought a familial touch to our ensemble, infusing each performance with a deep-rooted passion for music.

His recent passing in November 2020 at the remarkable age of 102 marked the end of an era, yet his influence continues to resonate within our ranks.

A proud native of Gardenville, NY, Clarence Jr. epitomized the spirit of our community. A graduate of Gardenville High School and later an engineering student at the University at Buffalo, he balanced his academic pursuits with a lifelong commitment to music and service.

His enduring dedication to the West Seneca Community Band, coupled with his extensive involvement with organizations such as the Ismailia Shriners and the Masons, exemplifies the values of camaraderie and excellence that define our ensemble.

As we reflect on Mr. Hopper's legacy, we are reminded of the transformative power of music and the profound impact of individuals who dedicate their lives to its pursuit. His contributions ensure the continued success and vitality of our band, inspiring musicians of all backgrounds to join us in our musical journey.
